For goodness sake…..since I bought my first LP (“Blues Jeans a-Swinging”), I can’t get rid of’em. This one is for the hardcore-Garagefiends, let’s see if you can cope with 30 versions of the same song, compiled in chronological order starting from the original recording done in early 1959 up to 1967. Sure poor little piggyfoot did not know what he initiated (read the whole story in the booklet). The major part of the compiling work was done by http://beatmouse.blogspot.com (huge thanks, great job!) , I just added some more tracks from my collection to it. Surprisingly, listening to the whole set was not at all monotonous or boring as each version has some special treatment, be it only on the language-level (even if the songs’ words are quite simple, the shakes and shivers created some very interesting dadaistic versions, specially but not only by foreign interpreters) (see: King Size Taylors’ language-acrobatics). Those of you who want to hear how the story went on in the 70s will find more versions at the beatmouse-blog. If you’re mastering this set on CD, I recommend to skip the pauses between tracks, and, as always, to activate automatic volume-equalization. But now, as the Four Renders are suggesting: “….Come on, let’s midnight!!!”
